Leapers are Necromorphs with the ability to leap long distances toward their prey. Sporting a long, scythe-tipped tail made from the victim's intestines and legs, along with razor-sharp fangs, they are extremely deadly foes. More agile than Slashers, they are some of the fastest enemies to be encountered.

Leapers are Necromorphs that use their large, oversized tails as their means of attacking. They use their arms to pin down their victim and use the tail like that of a scorpion. They have two teeth-like appendages coming out of their mouth that resemble a snake's fangs. They use their arms as locomotion but mainly rely on their tail to leap (thus the name) to get from place-to-place. They are commonly found in both Zero-G areas, Vacuums, and normal areas.

The Leaper is one of the many Necromorphs to have two variants.

Standard Leaper

Enhanced Leaper

Enhanced Leapers do not have any special abilities, except being harder to see in Zero-G areas like Enhanced Lurkers are. They can take and deal more damage. Otherwise they aren't special.

  • Leapers were one of the first Necromorphs ever encountered. However, when Michael Altmann encountered them they were able to live after losing both arms. It was able to stand up on its tail and stay there until he came close. Afterwards it sprung out at it and then readjusted itself. The modern Leapers do not do that however.
