Challus Mercer is a doctor aboard the USG Ishimura and is possibly the only person who does not fear Necromorphs. He has obviously gone insane and will stop at nothing to kill Isaac, he even creates a Necromorph. One of the most feared Necromorphs of all time: The Hunter. It's only objective seems to be hunting down and killing Isaac, as it is never seen attacking anyone else and it never goes after its creator.
Dr. Mercer is a Unitologist and thus believes that the Necromorphs are ascended beings and that we shoudl embrace them and should be honored to get to become them. He sees them as gods and wishes nothing but to become one, and help spread their reign over the USG Ishimura.
Trivia[]
- For some reason he is never attacked by Necromorphs, as he remains unscathed throughout most of the game. However, when he dies an Infector attempts to turn him into one.
- If you kill the Infector before it transforms him, or kill Mercer as a Necromorph, you are awarded a music noise.
